2) Why haven't we been back?
a) American astronauts visited the moon on six occasions.
b) The ';moon race'; was an extension of the cold war. It was mostly about national prestige. We got there first and achieved our primary objective. There was some good science: surveys, measurements, sample collection. But it was mostly about being there first. Once we achieved our primary objective, there was no political will to go back. There still isn't. Perhaps, if we discover He3 or something else valuable, there will be.
c) I used to travel to Crested Butte, Colorado every year to ski. Because I don't go anymore, does it mean that I never went?

4) The U.S. government scammed everyone?
In 1972, there was a politically motivated burglary of a hotel room in the Watergate Hotel in Washington, D.C. There were only about six or eight people who knew about it. However, those people, including Richard M. Nixon, the President of the United States, failed to keep that burglary a secret. It exploded into a scandal that drove the President and a number of others from office.
If six or eight people couldn't keep a hotel room burglary a secret, then how could literally thousands of people could have kept their mouths shut about six faked moon landings? Not just one moon landing, but six of them!
5) What about the USSR?
Even if NASA and other government agencies could have faked the six moon landings well enough to fool the general public, they could NOT have fooled the space agency or military intelligence types in the USSR. The Soviets were just dying to beat us. If the landings were faked, the Soviets would have re-engineered their N-1 booster and landed on the moon just to prove what liars Americans are. Why didn't they? Because the landings were real and the Soviets knew it.

They have been sending men to the moon since the first landing in 1969.
It did happen. And they are not lieing to you. If it hadn't happened the Soviets would have said something back then to beat the States, but they didn't so we can rest-assure that it happened.
thousands of engineers, scientists, government workers, and military personnel were involved with the space program back then. If it were faked, how long do you think the secret would hold up?
We stopped going back for one reason - money. It is a great deal more expensive to leave Earth orbit, travel to the moon, land, live and work outside the craft, take back off, travel back and land again.
I'm old enough to remember when it really happened, not just from history books and films. I remember sitting in my uncle's living room with my parents, brother, sister, cousins, aunt and uncle late at night waiting for Armstrong to step out. One of my most vivid childhood memories.

And we do know the real truth. Only people with a little too much time on there hands, and that have very little faith in the US gov't or just have no common sense or scientific knowledge are the one that think we did not go.
I will tell you beyond the shadow of a doubt that we went. I am an engineer for a NASA contractor. I currently work on the Shuttle and Ares programs. Ares is the replacement program for the Shuttle, and will be capable of bringing us back to the Moon. The new era of Moon missions will be a stepping stone for future missions to Mars.
The reason we have not been back is because Moon missions are extremely costly. Until the Mars goal was set by Bush there was no political or scientific reason to return man to the Moon. However, by 2020 we will once again walk on the Moon, and by 2040 we should finally walk on Mars.
Beatrice, get this straight and don't be foolish about it any more, okay? The basic technology required for a manned flight to the moon was developed in Germany in the late 1930s through the mid 1940s. This technology needed a lot of refinement to make a safe manned flight a reality.
We worked on that technology through the 1950s and 60s, and made the first manned moon flight in 1969. It all fits together, and if you read all the history and don't let the wackos lie to you, it will be impossible for you to continue to be fooled into believing that the moon missions did not take place.
The American people were much better educated and more intelligent in the 1960s and 70s than they are now, and it would never have occurred to NASA engineers and managers that 35 years later a bunch of ignorant dolts with nothing to do would come up with a stupid conspiracy theory stating that the moon landings were faked.
If that had occurred to them, I suspect the engineers would have gone to the trouble to create a larger and more visible object of proof, to compensate for the decline in the quality of the American mind and its education that occurred during and after the Reagan presidency.
But there is a real physical proof available. The astronauts who landed on the moon left behind reflectors that are used every day by astronomers to measure the irregularities of the moon's orbit. This is done by bouncing laser beams off reflectors at known locations that were left by the astronauts. Ask your science teacher for information about these experiments. You can arrange to see this done with your own eyes.
Let me put the question to you this way: If you think the moon landings were faked, when did they become ';fake?'; When did the idea become popular that NASA had invented the idea of an imaginary moon mission and created a huge technological empire to fool people? When was all this fakery done? In the 60s? 70s? 80s?
And why? What was the point? And how did they fool all the people that reported the news, operated the machinery, built the moon rockets, and watched them take off and land?
Do you realize that one American in 500 was a part of the Apollo program? Millions of them are still alive. Are they fooling you? Why? If you go out to a football game, look around you. In the stadium there are people who worked on the Apollo program.
Ask around. You are surrounded by people who know for sure that American astronauts stood on the moon more than 35 years ago.
I think it was real. As for the Flag waving, it doesn't, it is ';Formed'; to look like it wave. I guess funding may have been one problem, but, I make a guess this not the total problem. I thought they were diverting more money to the Space Station. Then in time this provide the Launch Platform for Moon and Mars travel. I assumed it was not cost effective to spend money going back and forth to the moon, when it was better to get the Space Station and then go to the moon. This just my opinion and I not really do much in-depth research in this area, but, I do enjoy reading from time to time of some of the Future goals.

We haven't gone back because there has been no funding to do so, and there has been no over-arching scientific reason to do so. We learned what we could from the moon, and are now on to other things, albeit slowly.
Yes, they really did it. Come on, why would they fake it?
The reason that we stopped having moon missions is that Congress, in its infinite stupidity, cut off funding for them.
I can't believe people still think we never landed on the moon. NASA stopped going to the moon for 2 basic reasons, first money, it was very expensive. Second, it was very dangerous. The public does not really know how many times NASA almost lost astronauts on moon missions (except for Apollo 13). Even Apollo 11 had two very close brushes with disaster. NASA figured it was only a matter of time before they lost a crew.
I think it was faked. How does a flag wave with no atmosphere and why is their dust still under under the Lem no blast when it landed come on now were we duped or what.
