I've never reported an anti-LDS question. Generally the worst ones are gone before I even get an opportunity to click on 'em. The other ones, I just roll my eyes at.

I've seen several where LDS weren't the only ones offended by the question. If the purpose of a question is to bash someone's religion rather than to actually have a question answered, it technically violates the TOS from Yahoo. I generally don't report people, but I can see where people, whether LDS or not would feel inclined to do so. Calling someone a cult, asking about their underwear, claiming they don't believe in something they state they do...those aren't real questions. That's just trying to anger people. The questions I like to answer are the ones where someone has a sincere question and wants a real answer. You can often tell which ones they are, but a dead giveaway on the ones that aren't sincere are the ones who ask a question directed to Mormons, get lots of really insightful, well-documented answers, then intentionally choose as best answer someone who spews out as much hate as possible.
I don't know about any deleted questions and am in no way afraid of people who don't agree with the LDS theology. Sadly, their is a ton of misinformation out there so please do not repeat something you've heard unless you've confirmed the facts. Mormons do believe that Jesus Christ is their ultimate Savior and accept Him as such. As for the Trinity, we do believe in the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. Sadly, there is a closet industry in defaming the LDS church and millions of very willing customers. Seems easier and more fun to call someone weird or different than to actually try to understand them. Maybe that is why some of the questions are deleted. Maybe they are loaded hateful questions. I personally love to answer anyone who actually would like to understand my religion better. The thing about killing people is kind of silly.
I'm Catholic and even tho i consider my Church as the only Church Christ founded and promised that nothing will destroy it,i still find your question insulting to Mormons with no need for it. After the Mormons whose next ? Catholics,JW's Baptist. Why could you not simply had asked the Mormons if they feel questions are being deleted about them unfairly.

How would you react if your child was so scared of being accused of and punished for ';lying'; that he would rather say ';Yes, I did it'; and get punished for a ';misdeed'; that he didn't do than to say ';No. I didn't'; and not be believed and get even worse punishment for ';lying'; even if it was the truth ?Question to Christian parents about a child making a false admission of ';wrongdoing'; ?
I saw your previous question about this, with the link, and have been mulling it over. The only thing I can come up with is that the child has been told he will get twice the punishment for lying as he would for doing something wrong ... and either it's been applied with a disporportionately heavy hand, or he knows from the past that if he admits a small transgression he gets off with a ';don't do that again, son';. If you had a choice between that and, say, getting grounded for a week or something even more unpleasant, wouldn't it be tempting to claim you did the deed? Adults can reason that doing so is also lying ... but to a kid, even if he stops and thinks about that aspect of it, it's still the lesser of two evils as far as he's concerned.

I would fee very disturbed about my parenting skills. I did teach my kids that it was better to tell the truth and take the consequences that lie to me because there WOULD be an additional consequence for lying, but I had to have proof that they lied before the additional consequence came into effect. I don't think they've ever felt pressured to make a false admission of guilt because they knew that I needed proof, not just my feeling. (In fact, I know my daughter lied to me a lot growing up. She finally stopped when she realized how much it hurt me that she didn't feel she could be truthful with me.)

It happens all the time. My brothers and sisters and I (5 total) did this all the time and when my parents ';found out'; they usually knew that it was a lie, that the one confessing was not the one who did it. We never did it out of fear, rather, who would get the ';least'; amount of punishment.

My 2 boys and my husbands 3 also did this with each other.

This has nothing to do with God's judgment, he is just and pure and knows the heart.
Well, it seems to me that the parent needs to make sure they only punish when they know the truth of a situation and then appropriate discipline AND closure to the ';crime.'; If a child says they did it and they did not you need to figure out why and approach the situation from a different angle. Also, you need to believe the child when they say they are innocent. Only when you can establish this relationship of trust will a child trust you. I always ere on the side of innocence, but if I know the answer I help my children accept their wrong doing and innocence. I still punish AND give closure to the misdeed. If my child took on punishment for a crime I might still punish them because they lied and I punish the real culprit too. My children are 4 and 6 so I admit my limited experience. All I can say is I have great kids and discipline is not really an issue and we have great love and respect for each other. I will continue this and trust God to guide us in our journy.

communication is key. The other important understanding is how 'hard' your child is. Some kids you just need to glare at, and they will fall over, others you can hardly dent with a big stick. You need to spend more time with the kid. (I wouldn't punish him for that 'lie', for that would be counterproductive,--- but maybe you could make a joke about punishing him even more for that lie)
I don't know but I think if you badger someone long enough you will get them to say what ever you want them to say. Just how police get people to confess to something they didn't do. Everyone always wonders how that happens. Well, here is a good example. Do we really want our children to be that afraid of us?
Commitment, discipline and communication all bounded and rooted together in love is the key. You make mistakes but the child knows that you love them and that you are accountable before God for them.. again, a christian child should know this.

You give a scenario of a lose-lose situation. My reaction would be that I would be proud of my child in that they had a grasp of the gravity of lying and it's punishment.

In a perfect world Yahoo Questions %26amp; Answers would not allow low quality questions and reporting such is not going to do very much good because of the ';low priority'; doing so would fall under.

Just like people asking about the links not working, it's been said thousands of times why but for whatever reason people still flood the pages and all they had to do was look at previously asked questions. So in the end it appears we'll just have to develope a subconcious blind spot to these things and move along.Why do so many people ask false questions on this?
As a soon to be 48 year old, I stay away from such questions because it is too complex a subject and they are too young to be asking strangers about such things.

Help with physics electricity question.. more of a true or false?

years ago, to my memory my teacher said that electricity travels at about walking speed when you turn your light on. he asked a question, if it travels at walking speed, why do lights turn on instantly when the switch is turned on, the answer he gave was that there were already electrons at the lightbulb and turning the switch moved those electrons. pretty basic. but i am now doing university level physics and have been told that electricity travels at about 1/3 the speed of light

this could be a broken memory or possibly the speed of electricity when powering lightbulbs is lowered immensely but could someone tell me which is true and which is not?

An individual electron travels along a wire at about walking speed, it's so called drift velocity, at least in a DC circuit. In fact, in an AC circuit, the electron hardly moves at all, just vibrating back and forth. The light switch turns on the light apparently instantly as the wire is kind of like a hose filled with water. Opening the valve at one end discharges water instantly at the other end.

The actual explanation of the propogation time for electricity means we need to think about the speed of propogation of the electron just entering the example hose. The propogation of this effect is depenent upon the propogation of an electromagnetic field.

The propogation of an electric filed however travels at close to light speed (in vacuo) as the propogation is actually the movement of the electrical field, not an electron. The field travels at light speed in the medium, say copper, so the propogation moves at the speed of light (in vacuum) / the refractive index of the medium. So this ends up being about c/3 for most metalic materials.

For a pair of wires with just air insulation, the wave propagates at the speed of light. I think this is false, When a noise is made the sound is carried by the vibration of the object causing the air molecules around it to vibrate in a certain way, this in turn causes your ear drum to vibrate at a certain frequency which is how you hear the sound. An echo is simply the sound bouncing off an object and coming back, in doing this it is not reflected cleanly (think of a reflection on a pond or something) so some of the quality is lost.

Same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago. One of my question was removed because I re-edited my question in which I was telling one of my answerers that they were right and I agreed with them. Apparently, someone reported me in which the violation reason was chatting but I see people do this all the time on their questions and it isn't always nice comments, the exact opposite as a matter of fact. Someone reported me because they had nothing better to do obviously in which I lost 10 points.
You got to realise that you in high school environment here not an adult one.

I think if Jesus wanted a book written about his life and teachings(and he knew it would be read and followed by billions of people for the next 2000 years), he would have written it himself. I dont think he asked the people who wrote the Bible to write it. The falseness of it is, that the people who wrote the Bible wrote it from what they understood about Jesus' teachings, and much of what was written was probably mis-interpreted by the authors, which is why it is contradictory in many places.

I believe that you have to put yourself back in the times when it was written. Life was hard - loved ones died mysteriously from diseases, freaky weather, all sorts of causes that weren't understood back then. Nothing really made sense; you needed an explanation for the pain in your life, and you needed some hope to console you. The Bible provided the answers that you couldn't get from any other source. Now we know why a lot of things happen, so there's less of a need for it. But if you've been to a lot of funerals, you see that faith can provide a tremendous consolation to people, as well as having like-minded people around you for support.

I'm strictly a non-believer by the way, but I appreciate this aspect of the Bible and faith.

That is not possible. The Bible is the most factually supported book that has ever existed! That is the reason it is finally being let into schools, fact! The Bible continues to be supported more and more as we learn more about our history, environment and archeology. People stating they have looked into the Bible and ';KNOW'; it is not true have in no way looked into it with an open mind or on their own. They were told it is not true and believe it mostly because they want to!

IVF question: Why did I get a false positive on my HPT?

I had 5-day blasts transferred on 4/30. On Saturday 5/10, I secretly took an HPT and WHOA! it came up Big and Fat and Positive.

However, yesterday (5/13), the blood test from the doctor were Big Fat Negative. Extra sucky, no?

Here's my question. I had an HCG shot on 4/24 and my eggs were retrieved on 4/25 -- a forced ovulation, as it were. So my HPT would have been 14-15 dpo (or when AF would normally arrive).

Shouldn't that have been plenty of time for any residual HCG from the shot to have cleared out? Or is there something funky with the IVF shot regimen that caused the false positive?

Nothing is black and white, sounds like your body just took a lil longer to expel the HCG shot then usual (as frustrating as that may be) it happens, theres nothing set in stone saying it is always out of your system in 14 days. Sorry I know what IVFdoes to people, Keep the faith, it will happen.

oh and just for a tidbit of info from a recent IVF/reproductive study (my step Aunt is a specialist in reproduction techniques etc and undergoing further studies to get to high places in the field), 82% of couples who don't have success with IVF fall pg naturally within 2 years after last attempt. I have not gone through this, but my understanding is that it can take two weeks for all of your trigger shots and other stuff to clear out, which is why they schedule your blood test the way that they do. I think any test taken before the blood test can still have skewed results.

I must very strongly disagree that it does not matter what role religion played in Hitler’s POWER and HOW he was able to enact the Holocaust. It's the irony factor. Since Hitler was working off of a Jewish = race concept, what better than to find out that the Führer actually had Jewish ancestors?

paperback ^ is correct. the rumors, and that's all they are, regarding hitler's jewish ancestry are the result of a claim made at the Nuremberg Trials that hitler's grandfather, a man that his grandmother refused to actually name so we don't know who he was, was actually a man whom his grandmother worked for and that that man was jewish. the problem is that the town where this all is said to have taken place has no record of the name of the family, and so of the man, that his grandmother, according to the claim, was supposed to have worked for. furthermore, the town, Graz, had been 'cleaned' of it's resident jews in the 15th century and they hadn't been allowed to return until 1856, 20 years AFTER hitler's grandfather was supposed to have been born.

it's just not true. all the evidence, not rumors, evidence, is that hitler was a catholic early in life through to adulthood and that at some point, while still a believer in what he called 'providence', he began decrying christianity. his quotes, both public and private bear this out.
