A question about conception. Is what the doctor told me true or false.

I went in to get an ultra sound. I got one early because i go to a specialist. And she told me all babies around the world are exactly the same size before there 13 weeks. So when i got the ultrasound i was exactly 5 weeks and 4 days. She said conception had to happen within 48 hours. Is that true or does it still matter when u ovulate? because when i counted back that put me at the last day of my period. A question about conception. Is what the doctor told me true or false.
From what I was also told is that they are all the same size at first too. When you are first pregnant they will go by the last day of your period. With my last pregnancy, they went by that until I had an ultrasound at, about 4 wks, due to bleeding, and they went by exactly what the ultrasound said from then on.

I don't know the exact specifics of all this, but it definitely does not sound right. Did your specialist herself tell you about this, or did your ultrasound tech tell you? It seems weird, and I would get a 2nd opinion if possible. All I know is that they date pregnancy from the first day of your last period, but if an early ultrasound is off from that, they will go by what the ultrasound says instead. Different doctors have different standards as to how far off the ultrasound needs to be before changing your due date, although later in pregnancy (by the standard 20 week ultrasound for sure) the common number is 2 weeks (+ or -).





Although in any case, a due date is just an estimate and few women actually have their babies on their due date. A healthy pregnancy last from 37-42 weeks, so there is a lot of wiggle room.

That is the first time I have heard that. I just don't know the answer, but it's a very interesting question. If you see a specialist I would assume they know what they are doing and would not make such a bold statement unless they knew it as fact, or were joking and you missed it.
it matters when you ovulate!!!! I am supposed to be 10weeks 1day but I ovulate late so on my ultra sound it said I was 9 weeks 0days!
Your specialist sounds like a clueless nut.
